Overview
When embarking on an adventure to the Serengeti, encountering the captivating Maasai people is an essential part of the experience. This enchanting cultural journey will allow you to delve into the intriguing heritage of these noble individuals. During your visit to the Maasai village, which serves as the host for your tour, you will have the unique opportunity to meet a Maasai family, explore a traditional boma (the village huts known as Manyatta), constructed using cow dung and clay plastered over stick frames. Additionally, you may choose to visit a local school or clinic. If you wish to extend your half-day excursion into a full-day exploration, you can immerse yourself in the daily life of a young Maasai or witness an authentic bloodletting ceremony—an extraordinary interaction. It is truly remarkable how the Maasai people reside amidst the wilderness, with warthogs foraging and elephants trumpeting in close proximity. Renowned as Africa's most famous people, the Maasai are fierce warriors who continue to uphold their ancestral way of life. They are known for their pastoral traditions, relying on their herds of cattle, sheep, goats, and donkeys for sustenance. Throughout history, the Maasai led a nomadic existence, constantly seeking water and grazing lands for their livestock. However, in the present day, they have established permanent settlements, and many Maasai no longer wander. Although their diet primarily consists of milk, blood, and meat, it has become increasingly common for them to supplement it with grains. Despite the few remaining Maasai, they still coexist harmoniously with abundant wildlife.
Day by day
Day 1 — Maasai Village
After breakfast in the morning a guide will pick you up from your accommodation at Arusha or Moshi then drive to a Maasai village and from here were we Arrive late afternoon. Beautiful countryside on top of a ridge line. In the evening we have an evening walk and learn more about the days to come from your guide, gaining an understanding of the Maasai people, their traditions and skills, and also the wider area. And overnight at this lightweight camp around the campfire. Additional notes: This is your first day on safari, so we ask that you please pay special attention to the national park visitor rules and our company recommendations. During the safari, it is strictly prohibited to exit the vehicle, except in specially designated areas. Violations of this rule may be accompanied by large fines for the company, including the revocation of its license. Off-road driving is also prohibited, as such behavior may cause irreparable damage to the fragile balance of the natural ecosystem. During the safari, you are allowed to smoke, but be extremely careful about how you extinguish and dispose of cigarette butts, as they are a frequent cause of fires in the savanna. In addition, we sincerely request that you not put your feet on the safari car's seats, nor sit on the back of them, because this type of behavior quickly makes the cars unusable. Day 2 — Arusha
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the fly camp before departing with your guide back to Arusha or Moshi where your adventure concludes. By evening you will finish the safari and return to the hotel in Arusha or Moshi. A Karaoke night might be included after a Long Safari or you can rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport. Note: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out because of an evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay till 6:00 PM for an extra fee.
