Overview
Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Materuni
A visit to Materuni Village and Waterfalls is an excellent way to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The walk to Materuni Waterfall provides a glimpse into Tanzanian nature, allowing you to either prepare your body for the upcoming Kilimanjaro climb or relax your muscles afterward. The tour begins with a hike to the Materuni Waterfall. It’s a chance to see how local fruits like avocados, mangoes, lemons, and bananas grow, as well as learn about the local history, traditions, village economy, agricultural life, and cultural life. When you arrive at the waterfall, you can cool off in the natural pool, so bring your swimsuit! The tour will be completed with a visit to the nearby village nestled among the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the coffee farming process and walk you through the coffee preparation process, from bean to cup. Sing and dance with the Chaga people while they grind, roast, and boil the beans. When the coffee is ready, the villagers will serve lunch, which is a traditional Chagga dish.
